You may remember me mentioning a couple of years ago that my buddy and I went and saw all of the movies up for the Best Picture Oscar in one sitting. Well, you'll be glad to know that we just bought our tickets for this year's AMC Best Picture Showcase.
For those who don't remember or have never heard of it, each year, the AMC movie theater chain does a special screening of all the movies that are up for Best Picture the Saturday before the Oscars. It's an all day event that includes unlimited popcorn and trivia games and prizes.
This year is a little different, though. Because there are now ten movies up for Best Picture, they've made the screaning a two day event, Feb. 27 and Mar. 6, with five movies each day.
Folks, if you like movies, it's a great deal. It's $50 if you buy it in person and $40 if you have an AMC Moviewatcher Card. Or, you can do just one day which is $30 and $25 respectively. And, like I said, that includes unlimited popcorn.
Believe it or not, some of the theaters even offer a 24hour showing, where you see all ten movies in one day. Now, that's a little too much for me, but I think the idea of it is pretty cool.
Check it out!

It sounds like fun. No AMC theaters around here.
My friend, Doug, has now seen every film and person nominated including all foreign, shorts, animated, etc. He does it every year. Eccentric? Uh, I think so.
I was curious, so I did a search. I don't think there are any AMCs in Kentucky at all.
Jim, some of those foreign and short films are a little heavy for me.
