NO! NO! NOT THE HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I'd like to talk to you today about the song Happy Birthday. Well, not necessarily about the song Happy Birthday, but the singing of the song Happy Birthday. OK, not just the singing of the song Happy Birthday, but restaurant servers singing the song Happy Birthday.

The other day, my buddy and I were enjoying a meal at the Famous Daves. We're sitting there talking, when we hear that all too familiar, "Haaaa..." We both looked at each other and rolled our eyes.

Folks, I can't stand hearing restaurant servers singing Happy Birthday. Most of them look and sound uninterested. And, it's always out of tune. I'm a musician. It irks me to hear that.

If you are ever out at a restaurant with me around my birthday, don't you dare tell the staff it's my birthday. . . Unless it's at the Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre, where I can hear a rousing rendition of Once A Year Day!

What's On The Menu?

A dollar and world wide recognition to the first Dweller who can guess why I posted this menu that came in the mail the other day.

By the way, there are two possible answers. As a matter of fact, two dollars to the Dweller who guesses both.

Must Glee TV

Folks. . , I watch too much TV. I admit it. I've tried to remedy this by not adding any new shows each season over the past couple of seasons. Actually, I should say that I limit the amount of new shows I add each season. This past fall, I was good and only added one show, Fringe. And, I'm glad that it's the end of the season for all the shows I watch because that means I can take a break from the tube. However. . , there's a new show starting up this spring that has me all giddy with anticipation. I am sooo looking forward to the new Fox show GLEE.

If you haven't heard anything about it, it's a one-hour comedy about a high school teacher who tries to restore the high school's Glee Club to it's former glory and eventually take the club to the Nationals Competition. Each episode will even have a few musical numbers in it. Talk about a great premise. I mean, the only thing that would make me like it even more is if it were about high school band instead.

Now, I honestly don't think the show will last. It is, after all, an hour comedy, with musical numbers, on a major network. And, you know how they don't give shows a chance these days. But, know that I will be glued to my television this Tuesday. I hope I'm not disappointed.

GO MEAT!

I love this commercial. And, I'm so thrilled that they brought it back this year.

Every time I stand over the grill flipping my meat, I am so tempted to yell at the top of my lungs, "I SAID-UH BEEF HOT LINKS!", just to see if anyone responds.

I'm Baaaaaaack!

Dwellers, I have a major announcement. This summer, I will be making my triumphant return to the dinner theater stage. I'll be performing in Little Shop Of Horrors, and reprising my role as the voice of Audrey II, this time for the Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre.

In the fifteen or so years that I've attended performances there as a patron and friend of the theater, I had never considered auditioning there. But, when I heard they were going to do Little Shop. . ., I figured why not. I love the show, I can sing the part, and it's been a couple of years since I've performed on stage. Plus, the extra money won't hurt.

So, if you are looking for something to do this summer, come on over to the Susan and catch the show. Mention my name and get all the Bova Shankel you can eat!

FREE?!! It Must Be Good

Guess what came in the mail for me. That's right, some Rachael Ray dog food. Guess how much I payed for it. Absatively posilutely nothing. Yup, free! Not even a shipping and handling charge.

If you weren't aware of it, Walmart has a free samples website with products like shampoos, laundry detergents, diapers. Right now, they even have NicoDerm for those of you out there trying to quit. You just click on the sample you want, fill in your name and address, then done. Weeks later, you get your sample in the mail.

Boy, this BruDog can't wait to dig into his Rachael Ray Nutrish meal. . . OK, it isn't for me. It's for the two great dogs we have at home, Daisy Cow and Darwin. Hope you enjoy, doggies!

And, hope you enjoy taking advantage of this great info, Dwellers!

Movies Were Movies Weren't Movies

Fox News' website recently had their list of "Ten Movies That Our Pure Torture." Well, I decided to check it out. Here's the list and my thoughts:

Basic Instinct 2 - Never saw it because everyone said is was so bad.

Battlefield Earth - Tried to watch, but couldn't get through it.

Catwoman - Another one I never saw because of friends' reviews.

Gigli - Never saw and could care less.

From Justin To Kelly - Two words: Guilty pleasure. Yes, I enjoy the movie. . . for what it is.

The Postman - Never wanted to see it.

Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot - Um, no.

Striptease - Great movie? No. However, is it torture? Not at all.

Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 - What?! Who's even heard of this movie?

Waterworld - Saw this movie in the theater. Fell asleep for about twenty minutes, which I never do because I feel like it's a waste of money. However, was it torture? No. Not when I got a good nap out of it.

Odd Holidays

Hey Dwellers! Guess what today is. It's International Spank Out Day. I think, in honor of the holiday, we should take a page out of Ron's hand. . .book by whippin' it out and. . . OOPS! Sorry this is a G rated blog.

Speaking of Ron, I believe his month starts tomorrow. So, you all had better be nice to him. Happy Asian Pacific American Heritage Month!

Ugh!

I have a complaint. My normal commute of fifteen minutes took me an hour and fifteen today. It wasn't because of an accident or volume. It was because of protesting. And, not just any protesting. Someone climbed up a construction crane, hung a banner from the crane, and then stayed up on the crane.

You know, crap like that does not make me sympathetic to your cause. Especially if it's keeping me from getting to work. The sad part is that it was supposed to bring attention to an important cause, global warming. Although, slowing up traffic and causing thousands of cars to sit idling doesn't seem to me to help the cause.

Thank you. Discuss.

HIGHlarious

Have you ever looked up something on YouTube, and then ended up clicking on a related video, and then another, and then another, until you've clicked on and watched so many videos that you end up on a video that has nothing to do with your original search? Well, I did that recently and ended up on this recording of someone pranking a telemarketer. Not sure how old this is, but dayamn funny. Check it out.
