Holiday Hogwash

Valentine's Day. . . Ugh. . . What a big commercial racket.

-80 bucks for a bunch of flowers that I would normally be able to buy for half that? Besides, they're gonna be dead in a week anyway.

-Box of chocolates? Great, so I can ruin someone's teeth and make them fat.
-Jewelry? Oh yeah, I want to make some rich CEO even richer and some poor South African even poorer (I saw that movie "Blood Diamond").
-Teddy Bears? Wow, something else to sit on a shelf and collect dust. I mean, what do you actually do with a teddy bear anyway?
-Going out to eat at some expensive restaurant? Hell, I can eat at the McDonalds for next to nothing. Two words: Dollar Menu.

Now, that being said,

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

Pardon my rant. I guess you can tell that I don't have a Valentine. . .

Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture

It's a sad day at the BruDog Haven World Headquaters here in beautiful Northern Virginia. I happened to see a story online today about how Polaroid is finally gitting rid of their instant film and cameras. As I was reading the story, it made me think of the collection of Polaroids I used to have backstage and downstairs at the ol' West End. I still have them in a box in storage.

Of course, all of those photos are immortalized in the Haven archives which can be found to the right under "Da BruDog Time Machine". I believe Joey figured out that there are about 400 photos.

I guess I can throw away the camera now. . . *sniff*

Cell Phone Etiquette

I was at my doctor's office today for an appointment. While in the waiting room, the cell phone of the person next to me rang. No problem, except that the person answered it, then proceded to talk on it for the next five minutes.

A few minutes later, the cell phone of the person across from me rang. No problem, except that that person answered it and talked on it for about ten minutes. Loudly. . . Well, not loudly, but the room is so small, that talking at normal volume sounds loud.

I have no problem with someone's cell phone ringing in the waiting area (although I'd prefer not to hear it). I have no problem with someone answering it. But, please step outside. Or offer to call the person back later. I don't need to hear your conversation. I get apprehensive at the doctor's office (so much so that it actually affects my blood pressure). I use the quiet time before my appointment to relax and calm myself down.

As Tina would say, "Ugh!"

I'm Feeling Like A Criminal

Thirteen years ago, I went to a movie theater to see "Natural Born Killers". I didn't like the movie (I've since come around on it). And, I was so annoyed at not liking the movie, that I decided to walk into "Forrest Gump" which was about to start. The experience was nerve-wracking for me. Every time the door to the theater opened, I thought it was an employee who may have seen me sneak in and wanted to check my ticket. At that point, I promised myself that I could never do that again. It made me too nervous.

Flash forward to the present. I was recently talking to Andi (Happy Birthday BTW) who said that she does it all the time. I told her about my experience and how I couldn't do it. She laughed and pointed out that there are so many people at the theaters, that no one would even notice. Plus, the teen workers wouldn't care even if they did see me. So, yesterday. . . I did it.

I saw "Untraceable" and enjoyed it. At the end of the movie, I knew that "The Eye" was going to start in fifteen minutes, so. . . I did it. I snuck in. What a rush! . . I'm such a dork.

I enjoyed "The Eye" (and "the rush"). But, could I do it again? I knew that "Atonement" was to start in five minutes, so. . . I did it. . . again. I'm such a criminal. I did at least buy some concessions so that the theater would make some money off me.

BTW, there were six showings of that Hannah Montana Concert at the theater. When I got there in the morning, three of the showings were sold out. So. . . I had to settle for "Untraceable".

I am highlarious. . .
