I took an informal survey of some of my readers and found out that their favorite feature on BruDog Haven is the quizzes. Well, I can't let down my dwellers, so here's a new one.
Breakfast Cereal ID Quiz
I got 17 out of 20 right. What can I say, I know my cereals. I think I could actually live off of cereal. Have fun!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend a Washington Nationals Game this past Friday with my good friends Joey and Bill. I've been to many minor league games, but this was actually my first ever major league game. Folks, let me tell you. I had a good ol' time. And here's the cool part. We were lucky enough to score free Diamond Club seats. You know, those rows that you see on the lower level behind home plate. It was the best. The section has it's own lounge and waiter service at the seats. Oh, and did I mention the seats are padded. Now of course, since it was my first game, I had to bring my camera.
Here are a couple of shots before the game. I had to get a pic of Joey and Bill taking in the sites before we went to our seats.

After the game, they shot off fireworks. But, to get the best view, it was suggested that we move over to the third base side of the stadium. So, we left our comfortable seats in the club section for the "regular" seats at third base. Wow! Those seats were not meant for the big man or the tall man. I was so uncomfortable. And, we were only in those seats for about ten minutes. I couldn't imagine sitting there for a three hour game. I guess I was spoiled by the club seats.

Today's Lesson
My sister recently threw a surprise birthday party for my Mom. When I arrived for the party, this is what I saw.
Notice anything wrong with this picture? No, I didn't reverse the image. That "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" sign actually came like that. What's funny is that everyone who arrived kinda had the same reaction. First they would glance at it quickly. Then they would do a double take, followed by a look of confusion. We decided to leave it, because. . . well. . . it had personality.
I don't know, maybe somewhere in the world, they celebrate "YADHTRIB*YPPAH"

So, lesson for the day: Don't buy party favors from the dollar store.

A Day In The Life Of The BruDog
I wanted to show you a picture of the peach stand Andi and I stopped at Saturday. Were we in the great state of Georgia? No. We found the stand in Delaplane, VA on our way back from driving out to Harrisonburg to move by sister back to college for her junior year. Ugh! Can you believe it, junior year? Man, I feel old. I remember when I used to change her wittle diaper. . . Wow. . .Anyway, we stopped in Markham to take advantage of one of the many wine tours in the area. Back in the day, the West End had a warehouse near there, so I'd driven through the area many times. I would always see signs for this wine tour at Naked Mountain Vineyard and Winery and always wanted to try it. We got there at 4:59. Unfortunately, the tours ended at 5. damn Damn DAMN! So, we missed it. On our way back down Rt 17, we found the peach stand.
OK, now that I've bored you to death, let me just say, you have to go see Tropic Thunder. After missing the wine tour, we stopped at the Cinema Deluxe at Fairfax Corner. I haven't had that much fun at a movie in a long time. Robert Downey, Jr in black face is highlarious. I think I might actually go see it again, which I rarely do. I hate to say too much more because I feel like I'll ruin it for you.
See it!
Oh my God, before the movie, we walked to the Ben and Jerry's. They have this new flavor called Coconut Seven Layer Bar. Haven Dwellers, let me tell you, it was heaven. I believe it's moved into the top position on my list of favorite ice cream flavors.
Try it!
So, in conclusion, because I know you're probably saying, "Antonio, this post is all over the place.", I just wanted you all to know that I had the best time I've had in a long time. I've been working a lot over the past few weeks and I've had lots on the mind also. Saturday was a welcome diversion. Thanks for the fun day, my lemon tart!

Who's The Master?! SHO'NUFF!
Another sad day over here at headquarters. Sho'nuff has died. "Who is Sho'nuff?" you say. What, are you kidding me? Sho'nuff was one of the best film villains ever from the one of the best guilty pleasure movies ever, Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon. The 1985 movie is about this teenager named "Bruce" Leroy Green, who goes on a quest to achieve the highest level of martial arts, "Last Dragon". But, of course on his journey, he encounters the neighborhood bully, "Sho'nuff, the Shogun of Harlem", who terrorizes Leroy and his family and friends until Leroy fights him. . . Ah! Classic! Oh, and the movie also features the very sexy Vanity. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Oh! Sorry! I got a little hot and bothered for a second there.
Anyway, Julius Carry, the actor that played "Sho'nuff" died on the 19th. I thought I would do a tribute.
Here's a clip of Sho'nuff from the movie.

Childhood Memories
While discussing an earlier post (The Agony Of Defeet) the other day with my coworker, he mentioned that it made him think of another procedure, the hernia exam. That made me think of a story from my teen years, my first hernia exam.
As young boys, we always talked about the dreaded hernia exam. None of us had had one yet, but we had always heard stories of how the doctor goes down there and fondles your junk and grabs it to move it aside. Scary! But, that's not what scared me the most. What scared me more was the thought of getting aroused during the exam. I was a teenager with raging hormones after all. Well, when I turned fifteen, I had to get a physical in order to get a work permit for my first job, the West End.
As I sat in the waiting room of the city's free clinic, I was a nervous wreck. I kept eyeing the doctors and nurses that walked by. But, I wasn't just looking at them. I was thinking to myself, "Gee, she's good-looking. I hope she doesn't do the exam. Oh, she's old. I'd be OK if she does it. Hey, there's a guy. I hope he does it." You see, I was worried that, if I got a doctor who I was attracted to, I might get aroused during the procedure.
Well, I'm finally called in. The doctor, the older woman btw, ran through the check list. Eyes, ears, chest, etc. Then, before I realized, her hand was under there and she was telling me to turn my head and cough. I did. Then turned the other way. Did again. . . That was it. it took all of ten seconds. After all that anxiety, it was a little uneventful.
Moral of the story: Don't get in a funk, let her grab your junk.

What's Your Pleasure?
Guilty pleasure movies. You know, those movies that you love, but are embarrassed to say so. Well, that's what my post is about today. Here's a list my guilty pleasure movies. Yeah, I know my list might make you look at me in a different light, but so what. Wanna see it? Here it go:
Center Stage
Save The Last Dance
Stick It
Drumline
Camp
Step Up
OK, I have a confession. The purpose of this post is not to talk about guilty pleasure movies, although I'd love to hear what yours are. The purpose of this post is to tell you how excited I am about the new movie I heard about this past week.
First, there was Step Up!
Then, there was Step Up 2 The Streets!
Coming soon, Step Up 3 - D!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
Yeah I know. You can't contain your excitement either. The movie is supposed to come out in 2010. I should probably get in line now. I know there will be people camping out for months.

The Agony Of Defeet
I had a traumatic experience this past Friday. I went to the doctor. . . That's not the traumatic part. My doctor had an intern with her that day. . . Nope, no trauma there either. The doctor was running behind. . . Traumatic? NO! Will you give me a chance to tell you the damn story? Ugh! . . Anyway, my doctor came in and asked me if I'd be willing to let a student examine me while she finished up with the patient ahead of me. No problem. I'm willing to help out. The student has to get some practice. So, he examines me.
He does the usually. Eyes, ears, chest, etc. Then. . . . . . I'm sorry, I have trouble even typing it. . . . Then, he told me that he wanted to check the blood flow to my foot and that he'd have to remove my shoes and socks to do it. He then proceeded to remove said articles and then touched my feet. ARGGGGGHHH! As I've stated before, I don't like anyone touching my feet.
You know, I've been going to doctors for years. I have never had a doctor do that. I asked around my office about the procedure. Only one person said that their doctor does that.
I'd almost prefer to have my prostate checked. . . OK, maybe not. But still.
